Why You May Receive Two Bills

When you are treated in the MercyOne Dubuque Medical Center emergency department, you will typically receive two separate bills:

1. From MercyOne Dubuque Medical Center — for the use of the facility, nursing staff, equipment, and other hospital services.
2. From Dubuque Emergency Physicians — for the professional services provided by your emergency medicine physician.

This is standard practice at hospital-based emergency departments across the country. The two organizations bill separately because they are separate entities, even though they work side-by-side to provide your care.

Insurance

Dubuque Emergency Physicians works with most major insurance plans. If you have a question about whether DEP participates with your specific plan, please contact your insurance provider directly or call our billing office at 563.900.8896.

When seeking reimbursement from your insurer, you may need to provide the DEP billing address or Tax ID. Our billing office can provide this information upon request.
